Lifting Holy Hands

As I was reading through Sarah’s previous two months' offerings of Oh to Know Him More, I was inspired to go in another direction. When I am worshiping, I find myself lifting my hands to the Lord. I’m not thinking about it, but lifting my hands with a natural reaction of my love for Him, drawing close to Him and getting to know Him more.

I desire therefore that in every place men should pray, without anger or quarreling or resentment or doubt (in their minds), lifting up holy hands. (1 Timothy 2:8 AMPC)

God desires for us to lift our hands to Him! Rev. David Ellis, worship leader for Kenneth Copeland, recently compared how God our Father sees us as we raise our hands to Him to when Rev. Ellis himself would come home from being on the road and his little daughter would run to him shouting, “Daddy, Daddy, Daddy!” What joy would fill his heart! He said at that moment she could ask anything of him and he would do it! Don’t you think we fill our Father God’s heart with joy when we raise our hands to Him?

Shortly after I heard Rev. Ellis’ teaching, my 2-year-old great granddaughter, Kaydence, was at my house visiting. Her daddy walked in from work. She hadn’t seen him all day. She immediately dropped whatever she was doing and ran to him, shouting, “Daddy, Daddy, Daddy!” Her daddy scooped her up, looked at me, and said, “She does this every day and every day it makes my day!” Do you think we make Father God’s day when we run to Him? I think so!

He will cover you with his feathers. He will shelter you with his wings. His faithful promises are your armor and protection. (Psalm 91:4 NLT)

I get very good Bible teaching at my church, but for a deep personal relationship our REST meetings give me the feeling that I am running to my heavenly Father with outstretched arms, and He is eagerly waiting and welcoming me. Waiting to love me, shelter me, protect me and to give me the desires of my heart. Oh, to know Him More!
